Franklin Templeton names execs

Franklin Resources Inc. of San Mateo, Calif., has named William Yun to the newly created position of executive vice president of alternatives strategies.

Vijay Advani was named executive vice president of global distribution.

Mr. Yun will oversee the firm’s specialized and alternative investment businesses, local asset management teams and joint ventures, such as those in Vietnam, China and Dubai.

In an expanded role, Mr. Advani will lead the firm’s retail and institutional distribution, including sales and marketing.

He has served as executive vice president of the firm’s global adviser services since 2005.

Mr. Yun served as a portfolio manager of New York-based Fiduciary Trust Co. International for eight years before becoming executive vice president of Fiduciary Trust’s global equity division.

Shortly before the firm was acquired by Franklin Templeton Investments in 2000, he was named president of Fiduciary Trust, a position that he held until 2005.

In 2002, Mr. Yun was named president of Franklin Templeton Institutional. He is an officer of Franklin Resources.

Mr. Advani, also an officer of Franklin Resources, joined San Mateo-based Franklin Templeton Investments in 1995 as president of Templeton Asset Management Private Ltd. in Mumbai, India, and later served as regional managing director in charge of product development, sales and marketing for Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa. He relocated to California and was appointed executive managing director of international retail development.

Franklin Resources Inc. had approximately $623 billion in assets under management as of May 31.
